West Kentucky – South Illinois Weather

January 8, 2009: Bit of rain Friday night and Saturday – then colder

An area of low pressure will approach the region (West KY/South IL) on Friday night into Saturday morning.  buy Clonidine Scattered rain showers will form in response to the energy moving through our counties.  No snow, however.  We could see a clap of thunder across portions of the area.

Next week looks cold.  An arctic cold wave is forecast to spread southward across the eastern United States on Monday and Tuesday.  This cold air will be reinforced on Wednesday and Thursday.  Our area could see temperatures down into the Arthritis lower teens or perhaps lower.  Uncertain as to whether or not we can pull some snow out of one of the clippers coming in from the northwest.

One thing of interest is that the models have pushed back the cold air a few days.  This Vermox online is always a red flag as to just how cold it will actually end up.  GFS already has a cold bias – so we may not get as cold as originally thought a few days ago.  If we could get some snow cover over portions of Missouri and Illinois then that would help.

GFS forecast for the cold later next week (course it has a cold bias so this may be overdone)
